Welcome to the FleckneyToday Help & FAQ page! Here, you’ll find answers to common questions about using our community portal. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team.
Getting Started:
FleckneyToday is your vibrant, volunteer-powered community hub for Fleckney Village. We’re dedicated to connecting residents and businesses, sharing local life, and fostering a stronger, more informed community for everyone. It’s a non-profit platform built by local volunteers.
Joining is free and easy! Simply visit our registration page, then complete the form and submit, you’ll then receive an email to confirm your registration. Once registered, you can log-in to start exploring.
After logging in, click on your Profile Picture (or avatar) in the navigation bar and select “Your Profile.” Here you can:
- Add a friendly profile picture.
- Write a short bio to introduce yourself to the community.
- Update your contact details and preferences.
Navigating the Community:
Think of Groups as broad categories (e.g., “Sports,” “Village Life,” “Local Businesses”). Spaces are dedicated discussion areas within those Groups, focusing on specific topics (e.g., “Fleckney Football Club,” “Local Markets,” “Planning Discussions”). This structure helps keep our conversations organized.
Go to the “Spaces” section in the main navigation. You’ll see a list of Groups and their associated Spaces.
- Public Spaces: You can join these freely and immediately start participating.
- Private Spaces: These require approval from a Space administrator. Asking to join a private space is simply by clicking the ‘Join‘ button in the top right of the relevant Space.
- Secret Spaces: These are by invitation only. If you’re invited, you’ll receive a special link to join.
The Global Activity Feed is your central hub for staying updated! When you log in, you’ll see a chronological stream of the latest posts, comments, and reactions from all public Spaces and any Spaces you belong to. You can also see trending content (top-liked, most-commented posts) in the sidebar.
Contributing & Interacting:
Within any Space you’ve joined, you’ll find an option to create a new post. Click it, type your message, add images or other media if allowed, and hit “Post.”
When creating a post, always try to select the Space that best matches your topic. If a conversation branches off, our moderators may gently suggest moving it to a more suitable Space to keep discussions organized for everyone.
Below any post, (and if enabled) you’ll see a “Comment” or “Reply” section. Simply click there, type your message, and submit. Not all Spaces have comments available.
To show your appreciation or agreement, click the ‘Like’ icon (often a thumbs-up or heart) below a post or comment. Liking content also helps you earn points on the Leaderboard!
Use the Search bar (click the magnifying glass icon found to the right in the header navigation bar) to quickly find posts, comments, or even other members by typing in keywords.
Notifications & Staying Connected:
You can receive notifications via email and directly within the platform.
- In-Platform: The notification icon in the navigation bar alerts you to new activity, mentions, and updates from content you follow.
- Email: We’ll send emails for key activities based on your preferences.
Go to your Profile and select “Notification Settings.” Here you can choose what emails you receive (e.g., new comments, replies, mentions) and whether to get an “Email Digest” of all missed updates at scheduled times, rather than individual emails.
The Chat icon in the navigation bar opens our real-time chat feature. You can:
- Send direct messages to other members.
- Engage in group chats specific to the Spaces you are part of.
- Share emojis, images, and videos in chat.
Community Guidelines & Safety:
Our Community Guidelines are designed to keep FleckneyToday friendly and respectful. Key principles include being respectful, keeping content relevant to Spaces, being inclusive, and avoiding spam or unsolicited promotion. You can find the full community guidelines here.
If you see anything that violates our guidelines or makes you uncomfortable, please report it. Look for a ‘Report’ button on posts or comments, or contact our moderation team directly using our Report Content Behaviour. Our team reviews all reports promptly.
Other Useful Features:
The Leaderboard showcases and ranks members based on their engagement. You earn points by receiving likes on your posts, articles, or comments. As you earn more points, you’ll climb the ranks and achieve different titles, recognizing your valuable contributions!
We love your ideas! If you have a suggestion for a new Space, please visit our ‘Roadmap page‘ and click the ‘Submit Idea’ button. We’ll add it to our Community Roadmap for other users to vote on, and with enough interest, we’ll aim to bring it to life!
